Question 1

What is a public IP address?

Accepted Answer

A public IP is the unique address your network uses on the internet, visible to every website and service you connect to. IPOK shows your current public IP instantly.

Question 2

How can I hide my real IP address?

Accepted Answer

A VPN or proxy hides your real IP, but only if configured correctly. DNS leaks and WebRTC leaks can still expose your true identity even when the VPN appears active.

Question 3

Is the DNS leak test safe to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The DNS leak test only queries public authoritative servers and does not access your browsing history or personal data. It simply reports which DNS resolvers handled your requests.

Question 4

Why can WebRTC expose my real IP?

Accepted Answer

WebRTC discovers ICE candidates automatically when establishing peer-to-peer connections. These candidates may reveal your local network IP or public IP even when a VPN is active. Use IPOK WebRTC test to check for leaks.

Question 5

Can browser fingerprints be fully hidden?

Accepted Answer

Fully hiding fingerprints is difficult because they derive from normal browser and device characteristics. Reducing fingerprint uniqueness is more practical: use a mainstream browser, limit extensions, and avoid custom fonts.

Question 6

VPN is connected but IPOK still shows my local ISP. Why?

Accepted Answer

This is usually a DNS leak — the VPN protects traffic but your DNS queries still go through the local ISP resolver. Use IPOK DNS Leak Test to confirm and switch to a VPN client with DNS leak protection enabled.
